Samanta has been practicing mind-body health for over 20 years, and her work centers on Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, Ayurvedic and Thai Yoga Therapies, Diet / Nutrition and Vedic Chanting. In July 2008, she partnered with Shaleen Parekh to open India’s first boutique yoga studio, Yoga Sutra. Over the last ten years she has explored and mastered several healing therapies for the mind and body, uniting awareness with movement, breath, heart, and humour. She teaches workshops and retreats around the world. In this workshop, participants learn a simple Shanti mantra and the principles behind chanting from the Vedas, learning to intonate correctly and combining it with an Asana practice. The first 30 minutes will be sitting and the following 45 minutes will be a gentle slow flow.

Vinaya started her musical journey at the age of 9 and performs Carnatic classical, devotional and film music. She is presently undergoing her advanced training in Carnatic classical from Smt. Padma Chandilyan and Sangeetha Choodamani Shri Shrimushnam Rajarao. She has also sung many film songs for leading music directors including Illayaraja, A.R.Rahman, Vijay Antony, D.Imman, Ramesh Vinayagam, Manikanth Kadri, C.Sathya and many more.

Music has always been a great passion for Saindhavi, who started her musical voyage at the tender age of 7. She has her expertise in Carnatic Classical and Film Music, and is also a connoisseur of Hindustani Classical Music and Western Classical Music. She has performed more than 1000 concerts, is a celebrated artist of AIR, and was also a recipient of the CCRT scholarship.

The Tashi Lhunpo Monastery is based in Bylakuppe, Mysore District of Karnataka State. The original Tashi Lhunpo Monastery was founded by His Holiness the 1st Dalai Lama in Shigatse, Tibet. After the Chinese occupation of Tibet in 1959, many Tibetans came into exile in India. The Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in India was re-established in the year 1972 and today has more than 400 monks studying Buddhist Philosophy. Leading the chants will be Thujay Jorden, originally from Ladakh and presently doing work in the Tantric section of the monastery; Nawang Tandup from the Lahual Spiti area of Himachal Pradesh who has studied Buddhist philosophy, later joined the Tantric section of the monastery and is presently in charge of the main palace of the monastery; and Stanzin Wongdus from Ladakh, who also had studied Buddhist philosophical studies and presently is in charge of the main temple.

She has travelled and practiced around the world in countries like Costa Rica, Mexico, India, Thailand, Sweden, England, Switzerland, Egypt, and Spain. She is also a Yoga instructor, certified by the Sivananda Yoga Ashram in Kerala, India. This gentle yoga style class rejuvenates the body, helps boost the immune system, increases flexibility and calms a restless mind. This style of practice is also beneficial for people who are weak, or recovering from an injury.

She studied Mindfulness with emphasis on working with children and youth, Ashtanga - Vinyasa Yoga and Therapeutic Yoga. She is the founder of Naim Studio for Yoga and Movement in Tel Aviv and the producer of Israel's largest Yoga conference - Yoga Arava. This session is a silent sitting Meditation session followed by a conversation about how to improve our meditation practice by recognizing the challenges, and thereby overcoming them.

It Starts Here - Traditional Sivananda

Anand was born to a fisherman family in Kovalam and chose yoga as his life path, studying both Yoga and Naturopathy. He is now a certified yoga teacher having completed his ATTC, and wishes to share the practice of yoga with the villagers of Kovalam and convert his family rooftop to his yoga Shala. Anand gets his strength and motivation from the feeling of connectivity and unity with his students. His sessions are traditional Sivananda classes, slow paced, meditative and encouraging proper breathing, flexibility, strength and vitality in the body while calming the mind. This class includes breathing exercises, warm-ups including Sun Salutations, 12 basic postures and deep relaxation. The focus is on mastering the basic postures from which variations are then added to further deepen the practice.

Arli is a guitarist / musician who combines both his Middle Eastern heritage and his Western influences, drawing inspiration from a diverse spectrum of the world’s vibrant melodies, harmonies, and rhythms. He was part of the White Flag Project - made up of both Israeli and Palestinian musicians, aimed to nurture the artistic talent of young prodigies. He performs around the world in countries including the USA, Israel, Canada and England. In this session, Arli will create expansive soundscapes, loops, textures and effects using just his electric guitar and a wide array of pedals.

Blindfold Yoga

Divya Rolla has completed the teacher’s training program at the Sivananda Ashram in Madurai, and spent time in Mysore studying Ashtanga Yoga under Saraswati Jois. She has great belief in the healing powers of the practise and her classes focus on breath, alignment and stillness in postures. Based on the principle of Pratyahara (withdrawal of one’s senses), the participants of Blindfold Yoga will tie a soft cloth over their eyes. Practicing yoga blindfolded has a huge impact on the rest of the senses - participants will feel their balance being challenged as they remove visual references, and will also feel the rest of their senses become deepened and refined.

Kids have flexible bodies and open minds, which makes them the perfect students for yoga! Introducing kids to yoga at an early age will help them connect with their thoughts while building strong, confident bodies. Children learn through games, play and storytelling so these classes do not follow the same structure as an adult class. In fact, there is very little structure and every opportunity for fun and creativity. The focus is on fun and respecting their bodies and each other. Yoga poses are taught in an age appropriate way and are further developed as children gain more confidence and understanding.

The Austrian born Sound Explorer has become a noted pioneer in the development of innovative musical instruments and created the holistic modality “A Sound Approach to Life“. Combining the gifts of a musician, artist, socio-cultural activist and visionary, Aurelio has an in-depth understanding of the underlying physics of sound. In this session, Aurelio will create an experiential space of deep relaxation through a basic tuning process and an exposure to the soothing waves and vibrations of pure acoustic instruments. Nanna mal is a 98-year-old yoga teacher who hails from a family that has been practicing yoga for generations. The Coimbatore-based yogi credits yoga and healthy eating for her good health, claiming to have never suffered any serious health issues. She says: "Seniors who do come and practice yoga are those who have ailments like joint pain. I believe prevention is better than cure so I urge people of all age brackets to adopt yoga, not as a cure, but as a preventive measure." In this class led by Nanna Mal and her son Balakrishna, she will share her lifelong experiences of yoga, its benefits, and how it has affected her own life - while also guiding participants through a series of cleansing and strengthening asanas.

Anahata Meher practices Shamanism as a way of life, creating her own healing flower essences using Bach Flower Therapy and Plant Spirit Medicine. This workshop focuses on awakening the elements Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether within ourselves, and bringing these into a yoga practice of asanas, breath, sound, mudras, and guided meditations. This is followed by a shamanic drum journey where participants meet their animal spirit guides and learn to evoke these guides to support and expand their spiritual journey.

Defy Your Gravity - Aerial Yoga

Yin Yoga and anatomy has also infused her classes with appropriate individual alignment. This session of Aerial yoga works with props that support the hips for forward bends and back bends. By facilitating bending and stretching of the whole body, muscles and joints are strengthened and rehabilitated, and the spine decompressed as the body hangs freely while the circulatory, respiratory and digestive systems are improved through increased blood circulation. This promotes emotional, psychological and spiritual health.
