The Tashi Lhunpo Monastery is based in Bylakuppe, Mysore District of Karnataka State. The original Tashi Lhunpo Monastery was founded by His Holiness the 1st Dalai Lama in Shigatse, Tibet. After the Chinese occupation of Tibet in 1959, many Tibetans came into exile in India. The Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in India was re-established in the year 1972 and today has more than 400 monks studying Buddhist Philosophy. Leading the chants will be Thujay Jorden, originally from Ladakh and presently doing work in the Tantric section of the monastery; Nawang Tandup from the Lahual Spiti area of Himachal Pradesh who has studied Buddhist philosophy, later joined the Tantric section of the monastery and is presently in charge of the main palace of the monastery; and Stanzin Wongdus from Ladakh, who also had studied Buddhist philosophical studies and presently is in charge of the main temple.

His career began at the age of 12 with the opportunity to take lessons from Gurus like Shri H.Y. Narayanan, Shri O.S. Thiagarajan and Smt. Radhaviswanathan. Mahesh has worked with world class musicians including Ustad Zakir Hussain, Steve Smith, Pete Lockett and Nitin Sawhney on many collaborative fusion projects, and continues to perform worldwide. In this session, Mahesh will take participants on a transformative musical journey.

Divya Rolla has completed the teacher’s training program at the Sivananda Ashram in Madurai, and spent time in Mysore studying Ashtanga Yoga under Saraswati Jois. She has great belief in the healing powers of the practise and her classes focus on breath, alignment and stillness in postures. She has taught classes across Chennai and Delhi and conducted workshops and yoga vacations in Maldives, Andamans, Israel and Sri Lanka. She has travelled and practiced around the world in countries like Costa Rica, Mexico, India, Thailand, Sweden, England, Switzerland , Egypt, and Spain. She is also a Yoga instructor, certified by the Sivananda Yoga Ashram in Kerala, India. Nanna mal is a 98-year-old yoga teacher who hails from a family that has been practicing yoga for generations. The Coimbatore-based yogi credits yoga and healthy eating for her good health, claiming to have never suffered any serious health issues. She says: "Seniors who do come and practice yoga are those who have ailments like joint pain. I believe prevention is better than cure so I urge people of all age brackets to adopt yoga, not as a cure, but as a preventive measure." In this class led by Nanna Mal and her son Balakrishna, she will share her lifelong experiences of yoga, its benefits, and how it has affected her own life - while also guiding participants through a series of cleansing and strengthening asanas.

It Starts Here - Traditional Sivananda

Anand was born to a fisherman family in Kovalam and chose yoga as his life path, studying both Yoga and Naturopathy. He is now a certified yoga teacher having completed his ATTC, and wishes to share the practice of yoga with the villagers of Kovalam and convert his family rooftop to his yoga Shala. Anand gets his strength and motivation from the feeling of connectivity and unity with his students. His sessions are traditional Sivananda classes, slow paced, meditative and encouraging proper breathing, flexibility, strength and vitality in the body while calming the mind. This class includes breathing exercises, warm-ups including Sun Salutations, 12 basic postures and deep relaxation. The focus is on mastering the basic postures from which variations are then added to further deepen the practice.

Natasha Mahindra is a certified yoga therapist, self confessed gypsy yogini and enjoys sufi whirling, dynamic dance meditations and discovering ancient systems of practice for women. Anahata Meher practices Shamanism as a way of life, creating her own healing flower essences using Bach Flower Therapy and Plant Spirit Medicine. In this workshop, participants go on a journey of movement using various rhythms to explore and break patterns, expressing through dance our thoughts, emotions and feelings. Kalarippayattu Initiation

Raam Kumar is a Kalarippayattu performer/ instructor from Kerala, a contemporary dancer, choreographer and Theatre artist. He is the great grandson of Kalarippayattu pioneer Veera Shree C.V.Narayanan Nair, and the grandson of C.V.Govindan Kutty Nair - founder of C.V.N. Kalari Sangham and Kerala Kalarippayattu Association. For the last 6 decades, this institution has pioneered many schools of thoughts and practices and guided the evolution of the tradition of Kalarippayattu. CVN Kalari also runs a traditional ‘Kalarichikitsa’ clinic (known as Marma Chikitsa) - a specialized branch in Ayurvedic orthopaedic treatments. In this initiation, Raam Kumar will introduce participants to this ancient art form, demonstrating the core concepts and basics of practice.

In July 2008, she partnered with Shaleen Parekh to open India’s first boutique yoga studio, Yoga Sutra. Over the last ten years she has explored and mastered several healing therapies for the mind and body, uniting awareness with movement, breath, heart, and humour. Aurelio C. Hammer is an organologist, ceremonial musician, sound therapist and Founder and the Creative Director of SVARAM Musical Instruments. He has done over 25 years of research in ethnomusicology, acoustics and harmonic studies, listening traditions, music pedagogy and healing arts. The Austrian born Sound Explorer has become a noted pioneer in the development of innovative musical instruments and created the holistic modality “A Sound Approach to Life“. Combining the gifts of a musician, artist, socio-cultural activist and visionary, Aurelio has an in-depth understanding of the underlying physics of sound. In this session, Aurelio will create an experiential space of deep relaxation through a basic tuning process and an exposure to the soothing waves and vibrations of pure acoustic instruments. Congs, bells, chimes, strings and diverse new and archaic sound sources will invite the listener into a deep journey and deep synaesthetic contemplation.

Exploring Mudras Workshop

Vasuda is a singer-songwriter, originally from New Delhi. Her music is a blend of Indian Classical and folk with Western contemporary music. She sings Krishna Bhajans, brij folk Rasiyas and songs that she spent her childhood learning from her aunt in the land of Lord Krishna, Mathura.

Sankarshan Kini is an independent music producer and multi-instrumentalist based in Auroville, India. He explores genres of jazz, blues, rock, folk, and funk with different independent projects. He plays guitar, violin, mandolin, trumpet, and harmonica. He scores for cinema and theater.

Electronic Meditation Set

Avilente (pronounced aavi-laant) pulsates a luscious and intrinsic ambient trance experience that simulates transcendental drifts through magnificent sonic portals. The manufacturing process of Avilente began in mid 2011 as an electronic-acoustic Hybrid experiment by Faheemul Hasan, who plays guitar, piano, synthesizers and flute, incorporating these elements into his various music projects. He has composed, produced and performed various genres of music, ranging from Death Metal and Deep Ambient Music to short film scores. As a music professional, he currently works in the development of Audio Software Plugins and Sample Libraries. In this session, Avilente will take participants through an ecstatic journey of sound ranging from tranquil meditative arrangements to intoxicating glitch sequences, thrusting the listener into multi-dimensional realms of pure bliss.

Defy Your Gravity - Aerial Yoga

Kolam Workshop & Contest

Before the break of dawn each day, millions of women in India perform the elegant ritual of kolam, creating intricate patterns and shapes out of coloured rice flour in front their homes. This 'painted worship' creates a sacred prosperous space, with the rice flour feeding the little beings and birds of the earth - a symbol of thanks to Mother Nature and all she gives. With these delicate patterns gone by sunset, kolams are a reminder that things of beauty are after all impermanent, when dawn turns to dusk. Learn how to make kolams by the women of the local village or showcase your kolam skills - all skill levels are welcome. The workshop will be followed by a contest.

The Yoga of Dreamless Sleep - Yoga Nidra

She has great belief in the healing powers of the practise and her classes focus on breath, alignment and stillness in postures. This class focuses on Yoga Nidra - a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping, in which the body is completely relaxed, and the practitioner becomes systematically and increasingly aware of the inner world by following a set of verbal instructions. Yoga Nidra is among the deepest possible states of relaxation while still maintaining full consciousness and has been found to reduce tension and anxiety.
